National Clinical Education Manager

Extendicare Canada Inc.

This is a Contract position in Markham, ON posted September 20, 2022.

Reporting to the Corporate Quality and Risk Department within the Office of the Chief Medical Officer, the National Clinical Education Manager provides leadership and strategic oversight for Clinical Education across Extendicare.

 

This position will be located at our Head Office in Markham, Ontario and will have flexibility for both remote and in-office work based on our hybrid work model

 

Responsibilities:

  • Provides leadership and oversight of National Clinical Education program and other quality programs such as Palliative Care and Dementia Care
  • Conducts education virtually and in person at Regional and National events as required
  • Develops resources and educational material in relation to policy and provincial legislative requirements
  • Leads and monitors electronic learning system for Extendicare and ensures materials are consistent with policy and best practice requirements
  • Oversees onboarding of new users to LMS system so they have access as required.
  • Manages and troubleshoots issues identified by Operations and escalates to LMS vendor as required
  • Analyzes and evaluates current orientation and training/mentoring programs and provides recommendations for improvement
  • Collaborates with associated vendors, as required, and participates in research opportunities
  • Recommends educational improvements based on learning needs and requirements of Operations  
  • Conducts internal research and literature reviews as required
  • Assists in development/assessment/research of innovative models of care and service delivery that would benefit Extendicare
  • Participates in strategic planning for program development with other members of Corporate Quality and Risk team as required
  • Identifies best practice opportunities and collaborates with other team members to provide recommendations for implementation 

Skills and Qualifications

  • College or university degree in Health Care
  • 5+ years leadership experience in health care setting
  • Working knowledge of project management, adult education principles, problem solving, continuous quality improvement and coaching/mentoring
  • Experience in providing adult education and group presentations
  • Strong knowledge of provincial legislation, regulations and standards related to long term care
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Certification in Lean Greenbelt, GPA (Gentle Persuasive Approach), Palliative Care, and/or PIECES is an asset.
  • Proficiency in use of Articulate, PowerPoint, or other software solutions for development of educational materials is an asset
  • Travel within Ontario and other provinces as required, access to a reliable vehicle
