Clinical Technology Lead

Extendicare Canada Inc.

This is a Contract position in Markham, ON posted August 2, 2022.

Candidates are invited to apply for the full-time position of Clinical Technology Lead reporting into the Extendicare Office of the Chief Medical Officer. This position will provide clinical technology and RAI MDS expertise and support Extendicare’s Quality and Operations teams to drive actionable and measurable outcomes across Canada.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Evaluates potential enhancements to PCC software or other technologies to generate recommendations that enhance clinical care and support related implementation
  • Evaluates programs related to clinical technology and Resident Assessment Instrument Minimum Data Set (RAI MDS) and identifies quality improvement initiatives in collaboration with other applicable team members to improve quality outcomes
  • Leads clinical system configurations and enhancements in Point Click Care (PCC) clinical operating platform in collaboration with IT to promote standardization and efficient workflows in homes
  • Develops PCC assessments or other clinical related tools that align with Extendicare policy, education, and best practice standards
  • Provides expertise, strategic leadership, education, and resources for RAI MDS program within Extendicare
  • Scans regulatory and operating environment, literature, best practices to recommend opportunities for improvement and innovation
  • Responds to queries from long-term care (LTC) homes and assisting in troubleshooting informatics issues as required.
  • Acts as a subject matter expert for assigned projects such as Medication Safety strategy
  • Note: Some travel is required

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

  • Degree in health care or related experience and expertise in Clinical Informatics and RAI MDS
  • 5 + years’ experience with proficiency in clinical technology such as PCC, RAI/MDS, Resource Utilization Groups (RUGS), electronic Medication Administration Record (e-MAR), point of care (POC) tablets
  • Knowledge of LTC industry legislative requirements, continuous quality improvement (CQI) principles
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Powerpoint, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Good leadership, organizational & interpersonal skills, ability to work effectively with others and an ability to effect change.
  • Ability to work independently and be self-directed in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and effective organizational skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize effectively
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to effectively build strong relationships and liaison with internal and external stakeholders
