Senior Data Architect

Extendicare Canada Inc.

This is a Contract position in Markham, ON posted January 17, 2023.

Reporting to Manager, Data Architecture, the Senior Data Architect/Analyst will be responsible for development of data transformation processes and utilities, as well as supporting data analysis, clean-up and mapping from multiple systems used across Extendicare.

Candidates are invited to apply to the Senior Data Architect/Analyst position.This position will be located at our Head Office in Markham, Ontario and will have flexibility for both remote and in-office work based on our hybrid work model.


  • Partner with operations to understand business needs and direction and ensure that solutions are designed to meet business goals
  • Excellent communication and strong interpersonal skills to facilitate meetings and complex concepts, including thorough understanding of what may drive business priorities, strategy, and direction, and what may drive customer business needs
  • Collaborate with management, staff and stakeholders on data strategy, architecture, rationalization, quality, and analytics to support strategic business initiatives
  • Provide end-to-end vision and knowledge to projects to help better design solutions
  • Develop Logical and Physical Data Models to ensure adherence to sound data management principles
  • Design and build ETL processes, primarily using SSIS and custom queries as well as variety of data sources such as FTP based flat files
  • Work with BI and Data teams to optimize queries
  • Assist in data validation and cleaning processes


  • 7 plus years of Database Administration experience on MSSQL
  • 5 plus years of Azure SQL management
  • 5 years of general data analysis experience including excellent understanding of SQL and complex queries
  • 5 years of ETL experience with a good understanding of process automation with tools such as SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS)
  • 7+ years of general professional experience

Bonus Skills

  • DBA experience on other platforms
  • Scripting or general programming experience
  • Power BI
