If you want to work with an inclusive and collaborative team that’s striving to change the world for the better, we invite you to join us.As an Embedded Controls Design Co-Op, you will be applying your knowledge and skill sets in the development and execution of embedded controls algorithm, and software for upcoming generation of Electric and Autonomous Vehicles! This position involves a combination of embedded software design work, modeling, simulation of models and vehicles, Software-in-Loop testing, data collection from benches and vehicles, and tools development. You will be learning new knowledge and skills that would benefit your career development and future opportunities!Key Responsibilities:Design, develop, and improve controls and diagnostic algorithms for safety related components, sub-systems, and smart devices for Brake-by-Wire and other embedded platformsWork closely with multi-disciplined engineering teams to understand functional requirements, and implement appropriate diagnostic and control solutionsUse a model-based software development approach that utilizes both graphical and traditional software development methodsPerform Integration & Verification Testing of Integrated SoftwareSupport and execute test plans, and procedures for simulating controls and diagnosticsTest and debug software using models, controller hardware, and vehicles to perform SIL/HIL/Integration testingParticipate in collaboration and innovation to develop and improve better controls to achieve GM’s zero crashes, zero emissions, zero congestion visionAdditional Job DescriptionRequired Qualifications:Pursuit of a Bachelor's (3rd and 4th year students) or Master's degree in one of the following areas: Electrical Engineering,Mechatronics, Mechanical Engineering, Controls EngineeringAble to work fulltime, 40 hours per week in Canada, and for 8 or 12-month term (2-3 consecutive semesters) starting January 2024Related courses and strong grades (please include a copy of your transcript with your application)Strong MATLAB/Simulink experienceProficient with embedded C and Python programmingFamiliar with Controls Algorithm and Software development, implementation, and testing of real-time embedded controls systemsAbility and motivation to learn new technologies, engineering concept, and toolsHigh analytical ability, effective communication, and interpersonal skillsDemonstrates initiative by reaching beyond work assigned to improve output and/or help othersHave a valid Full Class G Ontario Driver’s Licence, or equivalent Canadian out-of-province licenceWhat will give you a Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications):Experience with signal processing such as signal filtering and frequency domain analysisExperience with dSPACE/Control Desk, or similar HIL toolsExperience with ETAS/INCA, Intrepid/Vehicle Spy, or similar DAQ toolsExperience working with Agile/Scrum development processes and toolsFamiliarity with software version control tools like GIT, or similarAbout GMOur vision is a world with Zero Crashes, Zero Emissions and Zero Congestion and we embrace the responsibility to lead the change that will make our world better, safer and more equitable for all.Why Join Us We aspire to be the most inclusive company in the world.
