What we are looking for:

 

As a member of the Surgical System team, you will be responsible for all aspects of nursing care and provision of services in the OPS Day Surgery Department. Your responsibilities in OPS Day Surgery will include admission of and post-operative (phase I & II) recovery of both adult and paediatric surgical patients as well as endoscopic procedures (colonoscopy, gastroscopy, urology, ERCP, and bronchoscopy).  You will be actively participating in patient safety and patient advocacy throughout the care experience while working in an interprofessional team environment.

 

  

What you bring to the role:

 

  • RN with undergraduate nursing degree
  • Certificate of registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario as a Registered Nurse
  • A minimum of 1-2 years of PACU experience coupled with completion of the Critical Care and/or Post anaesthesia certification or equivalent mandatory
  • Current BCLS/ACLS certification
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the OPANA standards is an asset
  • Membership with the Registered Nurses Association of Ontario (RNAO)
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of an interprofessional care team member
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to foster positive working relationships with interprofessional team members
  • Familiar with professional and hospital standards, guidelines and procedures
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, negotiation and conflict resolution skills
  • Ability to provide and receive constructive feedback
  • Excellent organizational skills with an ability to prioritize
  • Proficient computer skills
  • Evidence of professional development, continuing education and leadership experience is required
  • Demonstrated good attendance and performance records with the ability to maintain these same standards
  • Demonstrates a commitment to a healthy and safe workplace for self and others (staff, patients, families, etc.) by taking all reasonable precautions and working in compliance with organization related policies, health and safety legislation and best practices and completing relevant mandatory education as required

 

Work Schedule:

The successful candidate must be available to work Monday – Friday, Days in 4, 8, or 12 hour shifts.

Compensation:

Salary Grid: BAND J:
$35.55 – $50.90 per hour
