Recognition & Events Specialist, Organizational Development – Full-Time – Markham

What We Need:

As the Recognition & Events Specialist you will report to the Manager, Organizational Development and work closely with various stakeholders to oversee the planning, development, and execution of employee recognition events as well as support other strategic priorities. You are highly organized, able to succeed in a fast-paced environment, and are eager to engage with new challenges. You have strong communication, presentation, and project management skills. You also have excellent interpersonal and customer service skills. You have the ability to successfully work in a team setting or independently. This position contributes to the shared responsibility of ensuring health and safety policies are followed to provide for a healthy environment for patients, staff, physicians, volunteers and families.

 

On a practical level:

  • Oversee the end-to-end implementation of various employee recognition events, such as the Honoured to Care Awards, Long Service Awards, Staff Appreciation BBQs, Ice Cream Day, Food Truck Festival, and Take Our Kids to Work Day.
  • Lead a social committee of 10 staff members, responsible for planning and executing additional hospital-wide events.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with a variety of stakeholders at various levels of the Hospital.
  • Manage event budgets, solicit vendors, negotiate contracts, and ensure cost-effective solutions.
  • Actively participate in the continuous improvement of recognition and events programs, incorporating feedback and staying abreast of industry trends.
  • Lead planning committees which includes setting agendas, preparing presentations, facilitating discussions, taking minutes, and following up for deliverables
  • Contribute to the development of communication materials and promotional content related to recognition initiatives and events.

 


What you bring to the role:

  • A post-secondary degree/diploma/certificate in event management and/or business administration
  • Proven 2 years of experience in planning and executing employee events
  • Event management experience is required
  • Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication skills (ability to listen well and share information in a concise manner)
  • Strong computer/software skills using a wide variety of tools including MS Office, Excel, Zoom and PowerPoint
  • Demonstrated strong time management, project management, and organizational skills
  • Ability to work effectively within a team or independently
  • Ability to work with all levels of the organization
  • Demonstrated critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Consistent record of good attendance and performance standards maintenance
  • Demonstrates a commitment to a healthy and safe workplace for self and others (staff, patients, families, etc.) by taking all reasonable precautions and working in compliance with hospital related policies, health and safety legislation and best practices and completing relevant mandatory education as required

 

Work Schedule:

Days 7.5 hours, Monday to Friday, with flexibility to meet deadlines and meetings as needed. Hybrid model of in the office and remote work.

 

Compensation:

Band Q: $34.54 – $40.51 per hour

$67,353 – $78,994.5 per year
