In Person, Open House for Registered Nurses- Markham Site

Oak Valley Health (Formerly Markham Stouffville Hospital) will be hosting an open house for Registered Nurses on February 2nd between 1:00pm – 3:00pm.

We welcome you to visit our organization and learn more about what makes Oak Valley Health an employer of choice!

Participating Departments:

• Emergency Department
• Inpatient Surgery
• Float Pool
• Childbirth and Children’s Services (Pediatrics, NICU, PostPartum, Labour & Delivery)

Participating Departments will have information booths where you can chat with the Patient Care Manager, Professional Practice Leader, Clinical Lead and RN Staff!

Use this as an opportunity to learn more about the inner workings of the department, different learning and growth opportunities, and the amazing culture! Also have the opportunity to have an in-person interview with the hiring team.

In addition you can also connect with our Wellness Leaders, HR staff and tour our facilities.

Qualifications:

Requirements for Emergency:

• Current Certificate of Registration with the College of Nurses
• Current BCLS certification and motivation to complete your ACLS certification within 6 months
• Minimum 2 years of recent emergency department experience
• RNAO membership is preferred
• Critical Care Certificate and/or ENC(C) is a definite asset
• TNCC and ENPC certification are highly recommended
• Excellent physical assessment skills; Physical Assessment and Coronary Care I courses are an asset
• Proficient computer skills
• Demonstrated commitment to a patient/family centred care environment
• Demonstrated excellent critical thinking and problem solving skills

Requirements for Float Pool:

• Minimum of 2 years of recent experience in a Medical/Surgical environment is an asset.
• Previous experience in a Telemetry/ ICU/CCU Step Down or Coronary Care Unit will be of an asset

Requirements for Surgical:

• RN with undergraduate nursing degree
• Certificate of registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario as a Registered Nurse
• Post graduate Certificate in Operating Room Nursing required
• Current BCLS certification
• Minimum of 2 years working in Endoscopy related procedure environment
• Demonstrated knowledge of the OPANA standards is an asset

Registered Nurse, Childbirth & Children’s Services (CCS) Resource Team/NICU/Pediatrics /Postpartum/Labour & Delivery:

• Current Certificate of Registration with the College of Nurses
• BScN preferred or evidence of working towards
• Current BCLS certification and a motivation to complete your ACLS
• 2 years experience and ability to work independently in NICU, Paediatrics, Postpartum and/or Perinatal experience
• NRP certification preferred upon applying but required within 6 months of hire
• STABLE preferred upon applying but required within 6 months of hire
• PALS certification preferred upon applying but required within 6 months of hire
• A breastfeeding course is preferred upon applying or completion within 6 months of hire
• Current AWHONN or PPPESO Fetal Health Surveillance Monitoring Certification is preferred upon applying or completion within 6 months of hire
