Position Overview: Reporting to the VP, Environment, Health & Safety and Sustainability, the Environment, Health and Safety (EHS) General Manager
– Canada provides organizational strategic leadership, direction, guidance, and assurance for all environmental, health and safety programs and initiatives in Finning Canada, while ensuring the strategy and actions are aligned with the company’s global strategy, standards, Federal and Provincial regulations and other requirements specific to Canada.

Job Summary: Plan and oversee the development and implementation of Finning Canada’s EHS strategy, policies and standards in alignment with Global strategy and road map.

Ensure compliance of EHS related regulations.

Responsible for operational planning, budget management, and the coordination of new initiatives, policies, procedures and programs.

Support and ensure implementation of, and adjustments to, Branch EHS annual plans through EHS Managers, Advisors and other members of EHS team.

Provide support, guidance, and ensure quality of incident investigation, incident classification, and emergency preparedness.

In collaboration with HR Canada, develop and implement EHS related training programs for management, supervisors and/or all employees.

Monitor and report performance and progress of the implementation of the EHS strategic priorities for Finning Canada, in alignment with global reporting requirements Monitor and report on the progress and success of EHS strategy and annual plans.

Ensure EHS reports are issued timely and accurately, including performance reports, progress with action plans, quarterly presentations to SESR Committee, etc.

Ensure completion of monthly EHS updates to Canada Executive Committee Ensure proper coordination and communication with Executives, GMs and Branch Managers Advise and assist executives and management on matters relating to safety, occupational health and environmental issues.

Coordinate regular EHS calls for Executive committee with Branches.

Coordinate Executive walkthroughs.

Work within the global EHS leadership team to develop the global EHS strategy, standards, and adjustments to the EHS management system.

Coordinate processes to set up annual targets in Canada, in alignment with global guidance.

Manage, direct, and supervise the daily activities of Finning Canada’s EHS team.

Responsible for completing performance assessments and development plans for the EHS team.

Mentor and coach EHS staff.

Develop and maintain professional relationships with external associations, regulatory bodies, and clients to foster the professional image of the organization.

Represent the company in technical EHS Forums/meetings, including those organized by Caterpillar, Customers or others.

Coordinate Certificate of Recognitions (COR) or other external audits and provide support to global audit plan Competencies: Customer Focus: Being successful means continuously paying attention to customer needs and adapting as these evolve.

Qualifications Post-secondary diploma/degree in a relevant discipline or 5 years of equivalent experience in lieu of education.

Safety certifications 5 years EH&S experience in a larger industrial company.

5 years in a team leadership or supervisory role Thorough knowledge of EHS legislation, regulations, emerging issues and best practices.

Knowledge and ability to create, evaluate, interpret and administer company policies and procedures concerning safety, health and environmental matters.

Conceptual thinker with leadership and motivational skills.

Strong supervisory skills.

Effective networking within the industry, with customers and EH&S organizations.

Relationship building and maintaining clear lines of communication with individuals based on a high degree of trust and credibility.

Ability to communicate with a variety of audiences.

Ability to develop and promote safety awareness programs to encourage improved safety awareness throughout Finning Canada.

Terms of employment: This is a full-time permanent position Compensation Range: $190,000 to $220,000 Benefits: A comprehensive benefits package such as, DC Pension Plan, RRSP, Employee Share Purchase Plan, annual bonus, Medical and Dental coverage, extended medical coverage, LTD coverage, STD coverage, Health Spending Account and vacation will be offered.
