DePuy Synthes, part of the Johnson & Johnson Medical Devices Companies, is currently hiring for a Manager of Sales & Marketing Operations to cover a parental leave (July 2023 to September 2024). The position can be office-based (Markham) or remote anywhere in Canada.

The Manager of Sales & Marketing Operations will build and implement strategies to enhance asset utilization, drive revenue & income acceleration and further strengthen collaboration among the Sales & Marketing, Planning, Asset Management and DPS Loaner teams. They will develop strong contacts and close collaboration with functional teams and leaders from Customer Logistics Services, Supply Chain and Finance to ensure the interests of customers and internal partners are well represented. Leading a team of 3 associates and 1 co-op, they will be a strong leader who advocates for change with a track record of people development and driving executional excellence. They will have a transformational mindset and strong insights to the business that they will use to accelerate the dynamic growth of the department and the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

Build and implement asset management strategies, inclusive of, but not limited to the following activities:

  • Work with Marketing teams to identify, prioritize and implement implant and instrument set deployments leading the coordination with DPS Sales Agents, Supply Chain, Deliver and Finance.
  • Improve communication to field around set availability, build or redeployment scheduling and delivery timing, setting realistic expectations.
  • Conduct post Audits on sets deployed to the field (Consignment, Agency Sets, Trial Sets) and coordinate adjustments as warranted (Enhancements, Optimizations, Redeployments).
  • Drive better efficiency of our implants & instruments, freeing up financial resources for reinvestment to drive growth (ie. redeployment of sets, sku rationalization, set optimization, etc…).
  • Work with Asset Management Team & Marketing to conduct inventory analysis that identifies underutilized or excess inventory and instrumentation, then work with Sales to develop and execute redeployment and/or optimization plans as appropriate.
  • Perform periodic reviews of loaner pool usage and work with the marketing and loaner teams to modify investment levels where needed.
  • Establish a comprehensive strategy for assessing opportunities, including the development of predictive analytical tools that allow proactive identification of opportunities, assess strategic value, investment needs and deployment requirements.
  • Work with Marketing and Finance teams to develop capital forecasts and play an active role in sales and expense planning as part of the annual business planning cycles.
  • Increase collaboration with the Demand Planning team to create stronger integration between marketing strategies, field execution, investment deployments and inventory requirements leading to improved demand forecasting, reducing risk of inventory stock outs or delays.
  • Gain insight from DPS Agents, JJMDC staff and customers to inform areas for improvement in our asset management strategies, identifying and quantifying opportunities and mitigating potential risks.

Lead and mentor Sales and Marketing Operations Associates who provide franchise specific operational support internally and to the field with respect to congresses, event coordination, labs and product process management.

  • Develop the team, providing them with opportunities to grow in accordance with their individual development plans, leading to opportunities to advance their careers/ career path.

Qualifications Qualifications

  • Post Secondary Degree or Diploma. Advanced degree or professional designation is preferred.
  • Minimum of eight (8) years of business experience is required. Experience in Sales, Marketing, Finance and/or Supply Chain preferred.
  • Previous work experience in Medical Devices or a health care related industry is preferred.
  • Previous experience managing people with a demonstrated ability to lead a team to perform above expectations through individualized development, motivation and management of goals and priorities
  • Consistent demonstration of collaboration, inclusion, and strong business partnerships
  • Strong communication and presentation skills to address strategic and organizational implications of issues that require informed solutions.
  • Experience managing complex cross-functional relationships and an ability to lead achievement of results within a matrix organization.
  • Experience working with sales organizations and interacting with key customers.
  • Strong critical thinking and analytical skills to identify growth opportunities and lead initiatives that improve customer experiences and/or improve business outcomes.
  • Strong financial acumen to lead Product & Capital Forecasts, Cost Reduction initiatives, develop return on investment analytics, understand impacts to our financials and optimize investment spending while maintaining compliance to our budgets.
  • Proven results in planning, prioritizing and leading projects with an ability to influence without authority
  • Experience in managing change, navigating effective conversations and implementing action plans across the organization.
  • Ability to travel up to 10% of the time
