The Strategic Customer Group (SCG) of Johnson and Johnson MedTech (JJMT) Canada Is recruiting for a Health System Marketing Manager (Manager – HSM), in GTA, Canada.

The Strategic Customer Group (SCG) of Johnson and Johnson MedTech (JJMT) Canada drives revenue growth from 28 strategic customers (key accounts) in Canada, by partnering with healthcare system with innovative health solutions and programs. The Health System Solutions (HSS) team within SCG is responsible for establishing JJMT as the ‘ partner of choice’ in the Canadian healthcare system to deliver quadruple aim of reducing the cost of care, improving patient outcomes, enhancing patient and staff experience , by leveraging its most advanced technologies, health system solutions and clinically differentiated innovations.

The Health System Marketing Manager (Manager – HSM) is integral to delivering JJMT’s evolving value proposition in the Canadian marketplace. The Health System Marketing Manager will report directly to the Director of Health System Solutions and work with a wide variety of cross-functional partners across the organization. This is an individual contributor role.

Working closely with Commercial teams, Field Sales Organization and Strategic Account Managers, the Manager will be responsible for developing and executing innovative programs and solutions to build JJMT capabilities in shaping and growing Canadian Healthcare market. The Manager will develop strategic partnerships with healthcare providers in key strategic accounts.

The Manager is accountable for creating value for customers measured by clinical outcomes, quality of care, financial performance/efficiency, and patient experience.

The Manager will play a critical role in providing “voice of customer” (VOC) and insights to the organization to ensure that JJMT innovative solutions continue to help healthcare providers address their most pressing needs. By ensuring flawless execution of growth and innovative health solutions and articulating the value created by these solutions to customers, the Manager will play a critical role accelerating JJMT growth and building long-term strategic partnerships with key customers across Canada.

Key Responsibilities

Monitors the competitive environment to build sustainable strategies and actions. Routinely analyzes national, and provincial health and economic trends, anticipates issues/opportunities, and develops plans of action.

Identifies Customer Needs/Insights : leveraging a deep understanding of the challenges facing the Canadian hospitals as they strive to deliver excellent patient care with limited resources, the Manager will work closely with the Strategic Account Team and JJMT Franchises to identify key customer needs. The Manager will develop and execute customer insights strategies to generate data driven VOC feedback. Manager will develop and implement a customer insights communication plan to share VOC feedback and insights with internal stakeholders to inform business and SCG strategies.

Creates tools to shift the Canadian healthcare system towards Value Based Health Care (VBHC): establishes JJMT as the partner of choice by shaping the Canadian healthcare & procurement environment towards value Based Healthcare (VBHC) and shifting the procurement environment from ‘cost-only’ focus to outcomes for patients, impact for the system, and economic sustainability of industry. Develops strategy, messages, tools, and success stories for Strategic Account Managers within SCG, commercial teams & entire Field Sales Organization to communicate the value that JJMT can provide to the customer. Develops JJMT value proposition, tools, and messages around VBCH for external customers. Develops and delivers training to SCG and other internal stakeholders on JJMT VBCH value proposition, tools and messages. Partners with Health Economics & Market Access (HEMA) team to create value add business solutions for non-clinical stakeholders.

Develops new channels and growth opportunities: based on deep understanding of key market trends and current healthcare challenges, the Manager will leverage JJMT broad product portfolio offering, functional expertise (HEMA, Professional Education), digital solutions and external partnerships capabilities to drive growth in non-acute channels to address unmet customer and healthcare system needs (e.g. non-hospital surgical facilities). The Manager will develop new channel value proposition, messaging, tools, processes etc. and will train internal stakeholders on the new channels. The Manager is responsible for end-to-end development and implementation of new channel strategies and revenue growth opportunities. The Manager will work in close collaboration with the internal team dedicated to developing and supporting these new channels and growth opportunities as well as with customers and external partners.

Project Management : Acting as the project manager for assigned areas of responsibility, the Manager will leverage a combination of internal and external resources to ensure a flawless execution of the strategy for specific customers. The Manager will be accountable for project timelines, goals, and overall budgeted costs.

Internal Partnerships This role requires a high degree of collaboration with multiple levels of management across commercial teams and SCG leadership within N. America and other global regions. This role handles a high degree of complexity across multiple JJMT Franchises and strategic accounts across Canada. The candidate will demonstrate the ability to cultivate strong and positive relationships in the commercial organization, with strong abilities to influence without authority.


Education: A minimum of a BS/BA is required, although advanced degree (MBA/MS) is preferred


  • 7-10 years of commercial or business operations experience within Life-sciences industry (MedTech/Pharma).
  • 3-4 years of Project Management experience is an asset
  • Strong business & financial acumen
  • Strategic marketing and business development.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop analyze, markets and develop growth strategies.
  • Experience with Digital healthcare: SaaS (Software as a Service), SaMD is an Asset
  • Deep understanding of Canadian healthcare & its data privacy laws
  • Experience with Value-Based Procurement and Value-Based Healthcare
  • Experience in leading non-acute channel will be an added advantage, but not mandatory
  • Strong digital acumen with understanding of the evolving digital healthcare environment
  • 3 Years’ Experience in engaging hospital administration, healthcare buying groups (GPOs) and clinical stakeholders
  • Ability to quickly understand and synthesize complex information, to identify right customer solution

Preferred Skills

  • Bilingualism (English & French) is an asset.
  • Exceptional skills of influencing without authority. Proven ability to nurture strong business relationships across a highly matrixed organization. Strong social, teamwork competencies: within and across organizations, globally.
