ADAS and Autonomous Software Engineering Student Co-Op (PhD)

General Motors Canada

This is a Contract position in Markham, ON posted August 4, 2022.

Job Description

Be part of our fast-paced, agile teams that build software and innovative solutions in the ADAS and Autonomous domain for controls, mapping and diagnostics systems! The focus of this Engineering Co-Op is collaboration to develop, implement, test, and debug Automated Driving software systems. You will work with a diverse team of developers, and engineers to create software that empowers automated solutions like Cadillac’s Super Cruise.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop core software for Embedded Controllers and backend development

  • Support core algorithms and software for automated driving

  • Conduct testing of software (simulation, bench, and in-vehicle)

  • Investigate and support continuous improvement activities associated with production programs

Required Qualifications

  • Enrolled in a Computer Science, Computer/Electrical/Mechatronics/Controls Engineering, or related PhD degree program

  • Eligible to work full-time (40 hours per week) in Canada and for 8-month term (2 consecutive semesters) starting May-June 2022

  • Expert in Python, Data Structures, Graph Theory, and Route optimization techniques, etc

  • Familiarity with GIS systems, Open Street Maps, Road Network Topology maps, and other map databases

  • Beginner to intermediate knowledge on C++

  • Experience with Object Oriented design principles

  • Experience with CI/CD systems and software automation

  • Strong organizational, problem solving, and analytical skills

  • Highly adaptable with the ability to work independently and in a team environment

  • Able and willing to conduct work from home while COVID-19 protocols are in place

  • Successful candidates will be required to attest to, and be prepared to provide proof of, their vaccination status and that any job offer will be conditional on the candidate being fully vaccinated
