Graphics Virtualization Diagnostics Engineer

The Role:

The Diagnostics team is responsible for developing diagnostics and suites that exercise and validate the hardware blocks in the graphics chips designed at AMD. This role supports our SRIOV diagnostics team for cutting edge workstation and datacenter SoCs. Our mission is to Drive Pioneering and Groundbreaking Technology Innovation. The Person:

You will understand the features that go into the hardware design and use your software skills to program them to life. Once developed our diagnostics are used in all aspects of the product lifecycle, from pre-silicon validation through the production life of the product. You will have ownership of your code through code development, debug, and emulation for HW feature validation. It is important for you to have knowledge and skills in both software and hardware engineering. Self-leadership and independence, along with excellent communication skills and the ability to work with internal hardware, software and validation teams are key for this position.

Key Responsibilities:

• The design and verification of diagnostics that are used in chip qualification and production test suites for both internal and external customers (your code will have an important role in finding HW and production defects)
• Understand HW features and technical requirements to implement diagnostic tests and SW architectural solutions that support robust testing of SRIOV hardware features in conjunction with system firmware/software
• Support and resolve customer issues, including investigation and debugging of diagnostics source code
• GPU bring-up and support activities
• Root cause and solve HW and SW/FW problems with proven debugging and test experience
• Analyzing fall out boards to identify opportunities to improve execution time and effectiveness of diagnostics coverage

Preferred Experience:

• Strong knowledge and experience in software object-oriented programming (C++, scripting)
• Experience in diagnostic, device driver or firmware/embedded SW development
• Familiarity with GPU and CPU architectures
• Experience with software development and debugging in Linux
• Source control systems (e.g. git)
• Experience in SR-IOV industry standards and virtualization architectures (SW and HW) is a plus
• Hands-on experience with board bring up, virtual memory and PCI, graphics concepts
• Familiarity with operating systems concepts and kernel debug

Academic Credentials:

• BS or MS in Electrical/Computer Engineering or equivalent
