Senior Engineering Coordinator – Technical


This is a Contract position in Markham, ON posted July 29, 2022.

Job Description:

We currently seek a Senior Technical Coordinator who will support a team of Engineers, Scientists and Planners working on projects such as:

  • Road & Highway Design
  • Bridge Design
  • Environmental Planning
  • Transportation Planning

The responsibilities for this position are primarily planning, financial and design focused tasks (occasional and field tasks as required) including but not limited to the following:

  • Financial tracking, monitoring schedule and cost performance, forecasting, repairing, progress reporting and invoicing, Microsoft project schedule updates, and document control
  • Leading data management and analysis associated with field investigations, including inputting, organizing, quality checking and presenting data in reports.
  • Preparing analytical tables using Excel and Word.
  • Formatting and finalizing technical letters, memorandums, and reports using Word.
  • Coordinating and preparing permits including utilities locates, application forms, preparing work plans and health and safety plans.
  • Support database and mobile applications for environmental data.
  • Research and tracking of legislative and regulatory changes.
  • Preparation of materials for meetings, including attendance and preparation of detailed minutes of meeting.
  • Developing and maintaining project schedules in Microsoft Project and project tracking forms.
  • Developing and maintaining a database of agency and public comments throughout consultation activities.
  • Document control and management, including transmittal tracking.
  • Work in project teams including field personnel, project coordinators, project managers, draftspersons and technical staff using interpersonal and organizational skills to ensure project tasks are completed on time and budget.


  • University degree or college diploma program in urban planning, civil engineering, environmental studies or related field.
  • Demonstration of advance knowledge with Microsoft products including Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Project, Outlook, Teams applications. Skills in using styles and cross-referencing in Word, advanced equations and macros in Excel.
  • Relevant academic, software and work experience may also be considered as equivalent for the right candidate with experience in similar operations.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as a team.
  • Demonstrated excellent written and oral communications skills to a variety of audiences.
  • A valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills and ability to operate self-sufficiently.


  • Working knowledge of Microstation, Civil3D is a strong asset
  • Working knowledge of ESRI GIS software and AutoCAD.
  • Demonstrated understanding of municipal and provincial planning and design processes including typical 30%, 60%, 90% design drawings and the Environmental Assessment process for Municipal and MTO projects.
  • Demonstrated presentation skills to present information to varied audiences and advanced writing skills to prepare detailed report/materials of varying complexity.
  • Ability to work outside of regular business hours and out-of-town as required.
