SW Program Manager – New Technologies 

About the Department:

The Software Program Management team supports the delivery of the next generation of AMD Gaming Radeon Technology Products.  Our team focuses on on-time and quality delivery of software that supports AMD’s Products as well as their key new differentiating technologies. We plan schedule and resourcing, execute and monitor Programs in accordance with the software development lifecycle, provide status reporting, and actuals to stakeholders and key decision-makers.

Job purpose:

The SW Program Manager will focus on prototyping, drive development, and deliver next generation Graphics differentiator technologies. This role focuses on innovation to push the boundaries of product architecture. The role also works in close collaboration with Gaming New Product Introduction (NPI) SW Program Managers on the next Generation AMD Radeon Gaming products. You will support complex software development, plan its deliverables, and then track the execution all the way until launch. You will work with talented and creative Software Engineers to create the future of Gaming and its key technologies! 

Key Responsibilities:

• Scope technical feasibility of new differentiator technologies to drive innovation for future Products architecture by clarifying and analyzing requirements with SW Architects, Technical Leads and Engineers
• Work with SW Functional PMs to translate the technical requirements into SW Functional Specification and decompose the work
• Build a SW program schedule by considering various Driver and Software Stack component dependencies, negotiate and create a Staffing Plan that supports the schedule
• Support SW Technical Leads and key Engineers to drive technical innovations in pre-Silicon verification using a variety of validation tools
• Track Features Enablement progress by comparing the actual progress against the plan, optimize the features for performance to deliver these innovative key technologies to market
• Report Progress weekly to SW Management and Executives and drive corrective actions as needed
• Drive Driver quality with respective SW teams to achieve zero defects in production code

Skills and Experience Requirements

Requirements:

• Minimum 10 years proven large and complex Project & Program Management experience in dynamic and competitive industry with focus on Product Development (New Product Introduction)
• Minimum 10 years software, hardware and/or customer engineering experience with strong understanding of HW/SW interactions and deliverables
• Experience in Device Drivers, Firmware, Graphics technology in Windows and Linux, SOC product development – or transferrable experience/skills
• Experience working with ISVs partners a strong asset

• Proficiency with Microsoft Project
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills to handle all levels of interaction, including executive level
• Experience in cross-functional and global Core Team settings
• Horizontal leadership/Matrix management experience
• Flexible working schedule to manage global (North America and Asia) program execution team

Education:

• Preferred Computer Engineering, Computer Science or Electrical Engineering Bachelor Degree
• PMP certification is strongly desired
