Financial Analyst

Extendicare Canada Inc.

This is a Contract position in Markham, ON posted January 6, 2022.

The Financial Analyst will work directly with the Assistant Controller, to support the corporate accounting process, month end close, reconciliation and variance analysis with an aim to drive improved financial results across the various lines of business. Responsibilities will vary based on other ad-hoc projects as well.

 

The successful candidate will bring critical thinking, a strong attention to detail and a desire to “dig in” to learn the business while being mindful of the strong culture and commitment of the Company to provide the best care possible for our patients and residents across Canada.

 

Accountabilities as a Financial Analyst:

  • Responsible for proper maintenance of the general ledger accounts and financial reports.
  • Assist with the preparation of the Monthly Financial reports and responding to inquiries and requests
  • Assist with GL account balance clean up and cleaning working paper files for key balance sheet line items (intercompany transactions, vacation accrual etc.)
  • Assist with preparing and streamlining balance sheet support schedules
  • Prepare budget to actual variance analysis, providing explanations
  • Process month-end transactions, prepare supporting documentations and reconcile general ledger accounts
  • Assist with audit, including reconciliation of all balance sheet accounts
  • Identify areas of improvements and complete any ad-hoc tasks upon request

Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary education in Business Administration or Accounting
  • Working toward CPA accounting program or working experience equivalent
  • Minimum 1- 3 years work experience in accounting related role
  • Experience in identifying, investigating, analyzing and reporting variances
  • Excellent communication, organization, time management, and multi-tasking skills
  • Detailed oriented, with the ability to adapt to change
  • Excellent working knowledge of the Excel is required, while working knowledge of Infinium and AS400 Query is an asset.
